I’ve spent too many nights strumming this guitar hoping and praying the proverbial bubble would eventually burst. Now I can’t stop singing. Alternative Press, quit advertising your soul. These bands are catching on that they’ve become marketable. Why’s it so hard to relate? Is it because I grew up in a nice, suburban home? My brother Matt and my Mom & Dad go to all of my shows. I’ve got the love of my life by my side. It feels so nice…
I’ve spent too many nights thinking out loud. Thinking and overthinking everything I should be doing something about because it’s all happening right now. The seventeen year old cash cows milked for their money, dressed to impress then discarded when the record sales peak. Talk about being discreet. There’s a little competition in the war on substance. I’ve got a notebook full of useless sentences. The poets rallied and united in a winless fight but got burned by the limelight.
I’m always hanging around bad company. If it all goes underground I’ll take you all with me. If we can’t capture lightning in this bottle one time, we can’t live out the rock ’n’ roll fantasy.
The city lies awake while the radio plays a hundred songs that all just sound the same. It’s a shame I don’t rely on skills or looks to get me by. I guess I’m left with only something to say.
