This is your music in the 21st century. Analog gods and digital blasphemy. Isn't it everything you hoped it would be? I know you've been around too long writing, recording renditions of regurgitated songs. If that's your ticket to the show, you’d better get going. It's not enough to rock n roll. It falls apart if it ain't got soul. This is a long distance request from me from a long lost wave of frequency. Singing come home. We miss you. I know you feel like bowing out but there's so much left to sing about. Why would you want to throw it all away now? I spent the night putting faces to the names in these places I will never see again while we were waiting for our lives to begin.

Did religion slit the Achilles’ heel of evolution or was it the other way around? Isn’t it like a new millennium empire, building itself up just to tear it all back down? The youth are engaged, cocked and loaded lost souls who remember the feeling of feeling nothing at all. The banners’ directing you to be all you can be by redefining fear and reiterating urgency. Wake up, sons of America! Don’t let them get the best of you! Strike hard into the hearts of your fellow man! Personal savior left you out in the cold. Your dreams are a cancer, the future’s a black hole. Stranded and deserted inside of themselves. Laying low in the background so nobody can tell. The youth are engaged, cocked and loaded lost souls who remember the feeling of feeling nothing at all. The banners’ directing you to be all you can be under God’s trigger finger, a united state of emergency.

Glory 03:38
Wager a bet on the grandfather clock or the dinette set. Give this wheel a spin. Closest to the dollar wins. We stand in the back of a line and told when it comes, it’ll come in due time. All this waiting around to be king for a day then they’re trashing the crown. Something could happen on the way but I’m ready to burn. No shame in running but no glory in standing still. Walking on water, drowning in the fire. No shame in running, I’m ready to burn.

You and I got a good thing going on. It’s something you can’t put your finger on. Does it remind you of a feeling? The mystery and the danger that comes with love. We dragged those formative years out, learning everything and nothing at all. It was a matter of convenience. A stone’s throw was the distance from my house to yours. When all the cards were down, what you and I were looking for was just a better hand to hold. What we were always striving toward was this need to belong but I can’t be yours. You and I had a good thing going on but were both a little tired of putting each other on. When all our kids have grown, built houses they call home and grew families of their own. I’ve seen love ruin. I’ve seen love save. How much of this love is lost in waiting?

Distractions 03:51
We were all just little boys once, but once was enough. Oh, how the skin grows tough. The attempts to tip the scales backfire like a rusty gun. We can’t stay this young for long. We’re holding out for what we think is a better time. Distractions keep us up all night. The things you say in your head but not out loud. Just know I’ll be OK. We were unmanned posts when the bomb dropped. We were handshakes with our fingers crossed. No matter where we go and who we go with, we will always know where the good things grow so we don’t lose hope. We’re holding on to what we know is a better place. A warm thought on a cold December day. The things you say in your head but not out loud. Just know I’ll be OK.

Bad Company 03:55
I’ve spent too many nights strumming this guitar hoping and praying the proverbial bubble would eventually burst. Now I can’t stop singing. Alternative Press, quit advertising your soul. These bands are catching on that they’ve become marketable. Why’s it so hard to relate? Is it because I grew up in a nice, suburban home? My brother Matt and my Mom & Dad go to all of my shows. I’ve got the love of my life by my side. It feels so nice… I’ve spent too many nights thinking out loud. Thinking and overthinking everything I should be doing something about because it’s all happening right now. The seventeen year old cash cows milked for their money, dressed to impress then discarded when the record sales peak. Talk about being discreet. There’s a little competition in the war on substance. I’ve got a notebook full of useless sentences. The poets rallied and united in a winless fight but got burned by the limelight. I’m always hanging around bad company. If it all goes underground I’ll take you all with me. If we can’t capture lightning in this bottle one time, we can’t live out the rock ’n’ roll fantasy. The city lies awake while the radio plays a hundred songs that all just sound the same. It’s a shame I don’t rely on skills or looks to get me by. I guess I’m left with only something to say.
